According to a recent report from Fichajes, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has identified Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic as a viable option to replace Julian Alvarez, who left Etihad Stadium to join Atletico Madrid this summer.
Dusan Vlahovic has cemented his position at Juventus
Dusan Vlahovic represented Partizan and Fiorentina before joining Juventus in the winter of 2022. Since then, he has taken huge strides in his career. He has emerged as one of the key players for the Italian club under the guidance of Thiago Motta.
Vlahovic netted 18 goals and provided three assists in 38 games last season. He averaged 3.3 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 0.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). Interestingly, he has already found the back of the net six times in eight outings this season so far.
The Serbian plays as a striker and is lethal around the penalty box with his finishing. He is also capable of holding the ball and carrying it forward well complimented by his dribbling skills. He is an intelligent reader of the game, who can create spaces for his teammates.
Juventus will demand a massive sum for Dusan Vlahovic
Manchester City agreed to sell Julian Alvarez after he expressed his wish to leave Etihad Stadium in search of game-time. He was transferred to Atletico Madrid, who paid £82 million in return. While many speculated the English giant to go after a replacement, they didn’t opt for it.
However, it’s evident that the Citizens will have to bring someone to fill the gap today or tomorrow. For now, it has been reported that Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic, who has been impressed for Juventus so far.
Vlahovic’s clinical finishes and ability to link up with teammates will fit perfectly in Manchester City’s system. However, he would be used as a backup option for Erling Haaland. With Juventus naturally demanding massive sums, it will be interesting to see if City will be wishing to spend big for a backup player or not.
