In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Arsenal are showing interest in Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez. It has been stated that the Gunners are eyeing a move to bring the Spanish defender to North London next year.
Gutierrez’s Impressive Form In La Liga
Gutierrez has made a decent start to this La Liga campaign as he has put in some impressive displays on the left side of Girona’s defence. The 23-year-old has picked up one assist in eight matches for the Spanish club this season across all fronts.
The Spanish talent has been a reliable performer on the left flank based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 0.6 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has also been careful when distributing the ball after completing 88.9% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to snap him up on the cheap next year.
What Will Gutierrez Add To Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta’s Side?
Gutierrez is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The Spanish talent has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler as well. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Arsenal manage to get him on board next year.
Gutierrez would add more quality to Mikel Arteta’s defence. He is good enough to help the Gunners challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons. Therefore, the North London club would be wise to try everything they can to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this January or at the end of this campaign.
At 23, Gutierrez has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for Arsenal to consider in 2025.
