Manchester United will lock horns with Porto at the Estadio do Dragao this Thursday night as they try to secure a positive result on the road in the UEFA Europa League. The Red Devils suffered a dismal 3-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this game.
Erik ten Hag will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first XI for this European clash. Christian Eriksen, Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo could all get a chance to play from the start of this game.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Porto
Defence
Andre Onana will feature in between the sticks for the Mancunian club after conceding three goals in his last league outing. Matthijs de Ligt will continue to operate alongside Lisandro Martinez at the heart of the Man United backline as they try to keep the Porto attackers frustrated during the game.
Noussair Mazraoui will get the nod to start at right-back while Diogo Dalot looks to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well and try to offer some decent support to the front players.
Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Manuel Ugarte will anchor the midfield along with Christian Eriksen as they look to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo will play just ahead of them as part of ten Hag’s attack. All three of them need to be at their best if Man United are to come out on top in midweek.
Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Antony will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Rasmus Hojlund will lead the line for the Red Devils up top. He has to find a way to cause some problems for the Porto centre-halves this Thursday night.
Joshua Zirkzee will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the final quarter of the contest if needed.
