Manchester City will face off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Saturday afternoon as they look to earn all three points on the road in the Premier League. The Mancunian club managed to earn a narrow 2-1 win over Watford recently which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this league clash.
Pep Guardiola will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to revert to his strongest first XI for this game. Erling Haaland will once again lead the line for Man City up top.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Ederson will operate in between the sticks for the Mancunian club after he was rested in midweek. Ruben Dias will function alongside Manuel Akanji at the heart of Man City’s backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Rico Lewis will try to catch the eye as the right-back while Josko Gvardiol hopes to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the Newcastle half.
John Stones and Kyle Walker will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva will make up Guardiola’s midfield as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. All three of them need to move the ball well if they want to create enough clear-cut chances to win this contest.
Matheus Nunes will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Jeremy Doku would hope to put his pace to good use on the left flank while Savio looks to prove his worth as the right-sided wide player. Erling Haaland will once again lead the charge for Man City down the middle. He was rested against Watford and would be eager to put in another goal-scoring performance for the Mancunian giants this weekend.
Phil Foden and Jack Grealish will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
