Liverpool welcomed West Ham United at Anfield earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result at home in the EFL Cup. The Reds made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 21st minute when Jarell Quansah scored an unfortunate own goal. However, Diogo Jota equalised for the Merseyside club just four minutes later as the two teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Diogo Jota gave Liverpool the lead when he scored with a composed finish in the 49th minute. Mohamed Salah got his name on the scoresheet as well in the 74th minute before Cody Gakpo scored a quick-fire brace in the latter stages of the contest. The match ended with the Merseyside club earning a dominant 5-1 victory in front of their home fans.
