In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Southampton prospect Tyler Dibling. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to rival Manchester United in the race to land the English wide player.
Dibling’s Impressive Form In The Premier League
Dibling has made a decent start to this Premier League campaign as he has already put in a few impressive displays for the Saints recently. The 18-year-old has scored one goal and grabbed a couple of assists in seven matches for Southampton this season across all fronts.
The talented teenager has been a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 0.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He was even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 87.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the English club will expire at the end of this campaign. Hence, Spurs could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Keeping Tabs On Dibling: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Dibling is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and make some driving runs with the ball out in the wide areas when he is playing well on the field. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field.
The English whizkid is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so. However, he is still quite raw and would need time before he can be a consistent performer at the highest level.
Still, there is no doubt that Dibling is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, Tottenham would do well to win the race for his services next year. He is already good enough to challenge for a regular spot in Ange Postecoglu’s first XI. At 18, the future looks quite bright for Dibling. Thus, Spurs should focus on going all out to bring him on board next year.
