In a recent report, Sport stated that Barcelona are hoping to re-sign Paris Saint-Germain keeper Arnau Tenas. It has been mentioned that the Catalan club are showing interest in bringing the Spanish custodian back to the Nou Camp next year.
Tenas’ Limited Role At Paris Saint-Germain Last Season
Tenas struggled to earn regular first-team football at the French club last season. The 23-year-old featured in just six matches for PSG in the previous campaign, conceding seven goals and keeping one clean sheet across all fronts.
The Spanish talent deserves some credit for averaging 4.7 long balls per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 football. He was even careful when distributing the ball from the back after completing 80.2% of his attempted passes in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Parc des Princes will run out in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for Barcelona to snap him up on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Bring Tenas Back To The Nou Camp?
Tenas is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves for his team. He usually goes long with his goal-kicks but can also play his way out from the back. However, the Spanish talent has to find a way to earn more first-team starts if he wants to improve as a footballer.
Still, Tenas knows Barcelona well from his previous spell with them as a youth player and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Catalan club. Hence, it makes sense for Hansi Flick to try and get Tenas on board this January or at the end of this season.
At 23, the Spanish sensation would only improve with each year and could be a real asset at the Catalan club in the long run. However, he is not good enough to feature as Barca‘s first team keeper week in week out. Thus, Flick should look at some of his other targets if he is looking to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen who is sidelined for a long time with a serious injury.
