In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Newcastle United are among the clubs hoping to land Burnley winger Luca Koleosho. It has been stated that the Magpies would have to rival Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to land the Italian wide player.
Koleosho’s Impressive Form At Turf Moor This Season
The 20-year-old has made a good start to this campaign as he has put in a few productive displays for Burnley in the EFL Championship. Koleosho has banged in four goals in ten matches for his current club this season in the league.
The Italian talent has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the English Championship. He has also been careful when distributing possession after completing 78.2% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Koleosho’s current deal at Turf Moor will expire in the summer of 2029. Thus, the Magpies would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him next year.
Will Koleosho Be A Good Fit For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Koleosho can find some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. The Italian wide player is a decent dribbler with the ball but needs to add more assists to his game. He is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a right-sided wide player or as a striker down the middle if needed.
Koleosho would no doubt improve the quality of Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park in the coming years.
At 20, the future looks quite bright for Koleosho as long as he continues to improve with each season. All in all, he would be a great fit for the Tyneside club‘s needs in the long run. However, Howe has to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of him.
