In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Arsenal defender William Saliba is open to a future move to Real Madrid. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are showing interest in recruiting the French centre-back who is open to joining them in the future.
Saliba’s Impressive Form In The Premier League Last Season
Saliba had a brilliant campaign at the North London club recently as he put in a lot of solid performances at the heart of Mikel Arteta’s defence. The France international made 50 appearances for the Gunners last season, scoring two goals and securing one assist on all fronts.
The 23-year-old was a dominant presence on the defensive end of the field based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He was even excellent when distributing possession from the back after completing 92.6% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Saliba is under contract at Arsenal until the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Los Blancos to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Get Saliba On Board?
Saliba loves a tackle and can scan the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can even play his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.92m, the French defensive ace can also use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to snap him up in the future.
Saliba would no doubt enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to help Los Blancos challenge for a lot of major honours over the next decade.
At 23, Saliba has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy option for the Madrid giants to consider next year. Thus, Ancelotti should focus on going all out to get him on board this January or at the end of this campaign.
