Tottenham Hotspur have become one of the hardest teams to beat in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino has done a brilliant job in bringing together a group of players who play extremely well together. The mere fact that Spurs have few natural strikers in the squad at the moment, who missed quite a number of games at the start of the season, and they have still managed to score 45 goals, sums up their brilliance.
Pochettino’s summer recruit Victor Janssen turned out to be a failed experiment and although the boss still has trust in him, his appearances have significantly been reduced to that from the bench. The Belgian striker managed to score only 1 league goals in 15 appearances.
Apart from him, Spurs don’t have a poacher as such and Jansen’s form essentially makes it only one forward for the North London club currently. Thanks to the fierce form of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, Spurs haven’t had any real problems up front.
However, Pochettino has shown concerns over the massive burden on Kane, which has also led to the England striker going through goal droughts occasionally. The manager was even forced to deploy Heung-Min Son in the centre-forward role as we saw in the UEFA Champions League, but it availed to nothing.
It seems the Argentine boss is now betting on youth hoping to bring a change. According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are eyeing a move for Inter Milan’s young sensation Andrea Piermont. At 17, the striker is definitely one for the future and he has been immensely impressive in Italy so far. An Inter Milan youth product, his tremendous form in the junior levels has even earned him one start in their Europa league campaign.
Pinamonti has played 36 matches for Inter Milan Primavera and has scored 22 times for the side. In his 13 appearances in the Campionato Primavera Girone C, he has scored 14 times so far garnering attention from all across the Europe. A current Italy U-19 international, Pinamonti is a natural centre-forward and could just be the ideal target man Pochettino is looking for to ease the burden for Kane.
Although Pinamonti is hugely inexperienced and it is very unlikely that he will get first team action soon, but given his quality up front, Pochettino would definitely try him in tournaments like FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Tottenham are currently third in the league table below Arsenal after they managed to draw the game against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, where they were seriously outplayed by Guardiola’s men. They soon enter the intermediate stages of the Europa League following a huge game against Liverpool and Pochettino would like to keep his first team players as much rested as possible.
