In a recent report, talkSPORT claimed that Newcastle United are showing interest in Southampton prospect Tyler Dibling. It has been stated that the Magpies are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English wide player.
Dibling’s Impressive Rise At Southampton
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Southampton and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. Dibling has made five appearances for the Saints this season, picking up a couple of assists in the process across all fronts.
The English talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 0.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 89.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Tyneside club will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, the Magpies could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer.
Newcastle United Are Showing Interest In Dibling: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Dibling is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field. He can strike the ball with venom from long range but needs to add a few goals to his game.
The English talent is an accurate passer of the ball as well. He is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so by his manager.
At 18, Dibling is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future. Thus, Newcastle United would do well to lure him to St. James’ Park next year. He is already good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Tyneside club.
We can expect Dibling to bring more firepower to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s frontline. He has what it takes to be a success story at the English club in the long run. However, Howe needs to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of him at Newcastle.
