Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has revealed it’s the belief of his fellow teammates that saw them through against Burnley. Alexis Sanchez scored a last-gasp penalty to earn the crucial three points for Arsenal.
Arsenal took the lead in 59th minute through Mustafi which was his first goal for the club. Referee Jon Moss then awarded a penalty to Burnley after Francis Coquelin fouled Ashley Barnes inside the box. Andre Gray scored from the spot to give the Clarets a point in the stoppage time.
When everyone was thinking Arsenal would share the points, the referee gave another penalty but this time to the Gunners after Ben Mee almost hit Laurent Koscielny with his studs. Alexis Sanchez coolly converted from the spot to rescue the North Londoners once again.
The German international said, “You look in the eyes of the players and see that no-one gives up until the last second and it shows how much belief we have in ourselves and that we are going to go for it
“Since I have joined this club we have scored in the last second in a few games, a few times we have come back and scored the winner in the last second.
“Even when Burnley scored the equaliser, I looked in the eyes of the other players and you can see we never give up.
“It’s because everyone believes in it and I think you have to give credit to this team. I am enjoying it and it is always nicer to win in the last second than lose.”
