In a recent interview with SER Catalunya (via Mundo Deportivo), Bojan Krkic senior claimed that Bayern Munich ace Joshua Kimmich wants to join Barcelona next year. Krkic said,
“Joshua Kimmich is really looking forward to coming to Barça,”
Kimmich’s Decent Form In The Bundesliga
Kimmich had a solid campaign at the Bavarian club recently as he was responsible for putting in a series of impressive displays for them in the Bundesliga. The Germany international scored two goals and earned ten assists in 43 matches for Bayern Munich last season across all competitions.
The 29-year-old was a positive influence at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 shots and 2.6 key passes per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing possession after making 91.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Allianz Arena will expire at the end of this season which could open the door for Barcelona to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Bring Kimmich To The Nou Camp?
Kimmich is a decent tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can strike the ball well from long range.
The German talent can even set up a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a right-back if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether the experienced footballer can prove his worth outside German football.
Kimmich has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could be a real asset in Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s squad. He is good enough to help the Catalan club challenge for some major silverware over the next few years.
At 29, Kimmich is still in his prime and would be a welcome addition to Barca‘s squad next summer. Plus, he is on an expiring contract which makes him an affordable choice for Barcelona to consider next year. All in all, Hansi Flick should focus on bringing Kimmich to the Nou Camp at the end of this season.
