In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that West Ham United are facing stiff competition for Nordsjaelland winger Sindre Walle Egeli. It is understood that the Hammers would have to rival Crystal Palace and Newcastle United in the race to land the Norwegian teenager.
Egeli’s Impressive Rise In Norwegian Football
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of the Norwegian club and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. Egeli has already made 11 senior appearances for Nordsjaelland thus far, scoring three times and earning one assist in the process across various competitions.
The Larvik-born talent has managed to catch the eye with his performances in Norway. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical style and high intensity of English football if West Ham manage to win the race for his services.
His current contract at Nordsjaelland will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Hammers to sign him on the cheap next year.
West Ham United Are Facing Stiff Competition For Egeli: Is He A Star In The Making?
Egeli is a good dribbler with the ball and can make some promising runs out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field.
The Norwegian whizkid can even chip in by scoring some important goals for his team. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adjust to life at the London Stadium if West Ham manage to snap him up in the future.
At 18, Egeli is undoubtedly a star in the making and could be a success story at the London Stadium in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good, rotational piece in Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
Thus, West Ham would be wise to try everything they can to lure him to the English capital this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Lopetegui has to be patient with his progress before they can unlock the best out of him.
