In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Real Madrid have set their sights on Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the England international to the Spanish capital when he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.
Alexander-Arnold’s Impressive Form In English Football
Alexander-Arnold had a decent season at the Merseyside club after he put in a series of impressive performances on the right side of their backline. The English defender made 37 appearances for Liverpool in the previous campaign, scoring three times and earning nine assists in all competitions.
The 25-year-old proved his worth on the right flank by averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.5 clearances, 1.7 shots, 2.3 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from inside his half based on his pass success rate of 79.6% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Alexander-Arnold’s current deal at Anfield will run out at the end of this campaign which could give Los Blancos a chance to snap him up on a free transfer next summer.
What Will Alexander-Arnold Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Side?
Alexander-Arnold is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
The English talent can also create a handful of promising chances for his teammates up top from the right flank and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. However, he can sometimes be caught out of position when defending inside his half.
We can expect Alexander-Arnold to add more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first team. He has what it takes to help the Madrid giants challenge for some major silverware over the next few years.
At 25, Alexander-Arnold has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good option for Los Blancos to pursue next year. Therefore, Ancelotti would be wise to try everything in his power to land the English sensation on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
