In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur star Heung-min Son is generating interest from Saudi Arabia. It is understood that Saudi Pro League teams are hoping to land the South Korea international from the North London club next summer.
Son’s Impressive Form In North London
Son enjoyed another impressive campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after he put in a handful of influential displays for Spurs in the final third. The South Korean attacker registered 17 goals and picked up ten assists for Tottenham last season across all competitions.
The 32-year-old was a consistent performer on the offensive end of the field based on his average of 2.4 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even careful when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.1% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the London club will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Spurs boss Angelos Postecoglu has to tie him down to a new contract or else risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Can Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Afford To Lose Son?
Son is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. He has got the vision to orchestrate some decent chances for his teammates on the offensive end of the pitch.
The South Korea international can still chip in by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also serve as a centre-forward if told to do so.
Son remains one of the first names in Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s teamsheet. At 32, he might still have a few good years left in him to play at his best. Spurs simply cannot afford to lose a player of Son’s quality on a free transfer next summer.
Therefore, the North London club would be wise to try and tie Son down to a new contract so that they can keep hold of him beyond the end of this campaign.
