In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester City have set their sights on Athletic Bilbao playmaker Oihan Sancet. It has been stated that Pep Guardiola’s side could move in for the Spanish attacker at the end of this campaign.
Sancet’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football Last Season
The 24-year-old caught the eye at times for the Spanish club with his performances for them in La Liga last season. Sancet scored six goals and picked up six assists in 38 matches for Athletic Bilbao in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Pamplona-born talent was a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga football. He even interchanged possession relatively well in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 82.8% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Athletic Bilbao will expire in the summer of 2032 which could make it difficult for Man City to land him on a cut-price deal next summer.
What Will Sancet Add To Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola’s Team?
Sancet is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. Standing at 1.88m, Sancet is a strong presence in the air as well.
The Turkish talent can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He primarily plays in the number ten position but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if required.
Sancet would no doubt add more quality to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola‘s squad. He has what it takes to prove himself to be a success story at the Etihad Stadium in the long run.
At 24, the best is yet to come from Sancet, so the Mancunian club would be wise to go all out to get him on board at the end of this campaign. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
