In a recent report, Calcio Napoli 24 revealed that Everton launched a move for Hellas Verona full-back Jackson Tchatchoua this summer. It has been mentioned that the Toffees made a €10m offer to acquire the services of the Cameroonian talent before the transfer deadline.
Tchatchoua’s Impressive Campaign In Italian Football
Tchatchoua had a decent campaign at the Italian club after he put in a run of impressive displays on the right side of their backline. The Cameroonian defender made 27 appearances for Hellas Verona last season, securing a couple of goals in various competitions.
The 22-year-old was a good performer on the defensive end of the field as he averaged 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 77.3% in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027, so it won’t be easy for the Toffees to recruit him on the cheap if they decide to go back for him next year.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Rekindle His Interest In Tchatchoua?
Tchatchoua is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some timely interceptions for his side inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive. The Cameroonian sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates from the right flank. He is primarily a right-back but can also function as a winger on either flank if required.
Tchatchoua would add more quality to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s defence. He is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at Goodison Park in the coming years. Hence, it makes sense for the Toffees to rekindle their interest in recruiting the Cameroonian full-back this January or at the end of this campaign.
At 22, Tchatchoua has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. However, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to handle the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Everton manage to snap him up in the future.
