In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Arsenal were among the clubs hoping to sign Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman earlier this summer. It has been stated that the Gunners were facing competition from Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the French wide player.
Coman’s Injury Concerns In German Football Last Season
Coman was sidelined for a lot of games for Bayern last season due to multiple injuries but did well to put in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The French talent participated in 27 matches for the Bavarian club last season, scoring five goals and earning three assists in all competitions.
The 28-year-old was a good contributor on the offensive end of the pitch based on his average of 2.0 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He was even tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 87.9% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bayern Munich will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go Back For Coman?
Coman is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with it out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive third of the pitch.
The French sensation mainly functions as a left-sided wide player but can also play as a right-winger if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners opt to sign him next year.
Coman would inject more quality and depth into Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium. Therefore, it makes sense for the North London club to go back for Coman in the winter transfer window. At 28, he is playing in his prime and could help the Gunners compete for some major honours in the not-too-distant future.
