Fichajes reports that Manchester United aren’t sure about the continuity of Erik ten Hag as their manager and they have started looking for an alternative. One of the names that has emerged on the list is former Germany national team coach Joachim Low.
Erik ten Hag is under immense pressure
Joining Manchester United ahead of the 2022-23 season as a manager, Erik ten Hag showed great signs. He led the club to the EFL Cup victory and also secured a Champions League berth for next season by finishing third in the Premier League.
Reasonably, the expectations increased from the Dutch manager in the subsequent year. However, he failed miserably to deliver the odds. His side not only took an exit from the group stage in the Champions League but also registered one of their worst seasons in the domestic league in many years.
Despite all these, Manchester United backed their manager with quality signings in the summer window. But the English giant has been off to a bad season to the season. They have managed to win only one game out of three while losing the other two.
It’s now or never for Erik ten Hag
Manchester United are one of the most successful clubs in football history and they are expected to win trophies regularly. After investing so much in the signings, it’s natural for them to expect results from their manager Erik Ten Hag.
But there is a growing frustation amongst the public for the Dutch manager. Despite all the efforts, he hasn’t been able to deliver last season and the story isn’t looking good this time as well. Though there is still enough time to turn things around, a change in the managerial role isn’t being completely ruled out.
If Ten Hag fails to deliver in the coming weeks, Manchester United will have no option other than making a managerial change. Joachim Low, who led Germany to the 2014 World Cup, has emerged as one of the top contenders for the high-profile role.
