According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are keeping tabs on former Chelsea renowned manager Thomas Tuchel. They see him as a perfect choice to replace Erik ten Hag if the Dutch manager fails to deliver this season.
Erik ten Hag as a Manchester United manager
Erik ten Hag joined Manchester United as a manager ahead of the 2022-23 season on a three-contract with an option of extending for another year. In his first season, he won the EFL Cup and also helped the club secure the Champions League berth by finishing third in the domestic league.
After this, many fans hoped for an even better season but things were completely opposite. They got eliminated from the Champions League after finishing fourth in their group. In the Premier League, Hag’s side managed to accumulate only 60 points and ranked eighth.
Though they went on to win the FA Cup, it wasn’t considered a good season at all. Despite all these, the club showed their full backing for the manager and even invested heavily in the summer window. However, the Red Devils are off to a struggling start to the season.
Games after the international break will be crucial
Despite a disappointing last season, Manchester United backed Erik ten Hag to do well in the 2024-25 season. The club didn’t even disappoint the manager and brought almost everyone that he asked despite heavy monetary involvements.
Now that the Red Devils have done so much work, they must be expected ten Hag to deliver good results. However, his side has been off to a bad start to the season. In three games so far, they have managed to win only once while losing twice.
If the situation doesn’t turn around in the coming weeks, one can expect the English giant to sack their manager. To replace the Dutchman, Manchester United are keen on bringing Thomas Tuchel. He is one of the best tactical managers in world football and has a proven record. He could be an ideal fit at Old Trafford and help the club get back to the top.
