In a recent report, journalists Danny Rust and Dean Jones mentioned that Manchester City are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich playmaker Jamal Musiala. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club will monitor the progress of the Germany international for the remainder of this campaign ahead of a potential move for him next summer.
Musiala’s Impressive Form In German Football
Musiala enjoyed a productive campaign at the Allianz Arena recently after he put in a run of impressive performances for them on the offensive end of the field. The German sensation banged in 12 goals and picked up eight assists in 38 appearances for Bayern Munich last season in various competitions.
The 21-year-old was a valuable contributor for the Bavarian club in the final third based on his average of 1.5 shots, 2.0 key passes and 3.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He was even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 83.3% in the German top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Bayern will expire in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for Man City to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.
Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Snap Musiala Up?
Musiala is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can use his quickness to get in behind the opponent’s backline. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field and can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range.
The German talent can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager.
Musiala would inject more firepower into Man City boss Pep Guardiola‘s frontline. He is good enough to help the Mancunian club challenge for some major silverware over the next decade. Therefore, Guardiola would be wise to snap him up when the transfer window reopens at the start of January.
