In a recent interview with Goodison News, former scout Bryan King backed Everton to move in for Luton Town forward Elijah Adebayo this summer. King said,
“It is not an expensive fee if he is going to score goals.
“He has proven that he can score goals in the Premier League. However, what they need to focus on now is getting their players together and getting results.
“Then, if Calvert-Lewin does move, make a move for Adebayo. However, we’re in September, and we’re talking about the January transfer window.
“At the moment, Everton have got what they’ve got, and the players need to perform.”
Adebayo’s Good Run Of Form In The Premier League
The 26-year-old experienced an impressive campaign at Luton Town recently after he produced a series of eye-catching displays for them in the Premier League. Adebayo played in 32 matches for the English outfit last season, scoring ten times across multiple competitions.
The English talent was a decent performer in the final third as he averaged 1.1 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has to figure out a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 72.6% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Adebayo?
Adebayo excels at creating some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and can be a good finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field. The English talent has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates up top and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.
We can expect Adebayo to add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attacking department. He is more than capable of challenging for regular first-team football at Goodison Park in the coming years.
At 26, Adebayo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Toffees to consider in the winter transfer period. All in all, the Merseyside club would be wise to go for a striker of his quality next year. He might even serve as an ideal replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin if the Toffees end up losing him this January.
