Speaking on Henry Wright TV, journalist Ben Jacobs stated that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to land Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman this summer. Jacobs said,
“The wages aren’t a massive problem because the player is prepared to reduce his package, but does he actually want to leave? He’s fairly settled there.
“For now, he’s settled, he has a new, young family, so his next move has to be right professionally and personally. I’m not sure about the Premier League links. It’s true that he’s been discussed internally by both Tottenham and Arsenal, but you have two other clubs as well, PSG and Barcelona.”
Coman’s Recent Season In German Football
Coman missed a lot of games for Bayern in the previous campaign due to injuries but did well to put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The French wide player took part in 27 matches for the Bavarian club last season, scoring five goals and picking up three assists across various competitions.
The 28-year-old was a reliable performer in the opposition half as he averaged 2.0 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from the wide areas based on his pass success rate of 87.9% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Snap Coman Up?
Coman is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can use his pace well to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to orchestrate a few inviting chances for his teammates to score.
The French talent mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger if told to do so. We can expect him to inject more pace and goals into Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline.
Coman is good enough to earn a regular starting place at the North London club this season. Thus, Spurs would be wise to snap him up in this summer transfer period. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in England.
