In a recent report, Gianluca Dimarzio mentioned that Barcelona are confident about recruiting Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. It has been stated that the Catalan club are still keen on getting a deal done for the Italian talent before the end of this transfer window.
Chiesa’s Impressive Form In German Football
Chiesa enjoyed a decent season at the Allianz Stadium recently as he put in a run of impressive performances for Juve in the final third. The Italy international was involved in 37 matches for his current employers in the previous campaign, scoring ten goals and grabbing three assists on all fronts.
The 26-year-old was a good performer on the left wing and deserves credit for averaging 2.3 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in Serie A football. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 77.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Chiesa is under contract at the Turin club until next summer which could open the door for the Catalan club to sign him on a cut-price deal before the end of this month.
Is Chiesa A Good Option For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the eye to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
The Italian sensation mainly functions as a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a right-winger or as a striker down the middle if needed. We can expect him to add more quality and depth to Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s squad.
At 26, Chiesa has his best years ahead of him and is on an expiring contract which makes him a good option for the Catalan club to consider in this summer transfer period. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing someone with Chiesa’s skill set. Therefore, Flick should go all out to bring the Italian wing wizard to the Nou Camp before the end of this transfer period.
