Real Madrid are apparently set to continue their tradition of raiding Tottenham Hotspur for their best talent and the talent in question this time around is Dele Alli who has exceeded all expectations upon his call-up to the senior side and is smashing one record after the other. Having formed a deadly duo along with Harry Kane up top, the English International is enjoying his time on the pitch and is looking like he will be amongst the lot who will be contending for the Golden Boot at the end of the season. That in itself will be a big achievement and the fact that he is a midfielder will add to the sheen.
And this is something that has caught the eye of Los Blancos. They have Ronaldo, whose form has been extremely inconsistent and although the likes of Kroos and Modric are a class apart, goals are something which cannot be expected on a regular basis from them. And that is something they crave for leading to the special interest in Alli. He is a technically strong player and his link-up play and ability to find outrageous passes has been exemplary this season.
Let us take a look at 3 players Spurs can potentially target if they lose their 2nd best player-
HAKAN CALHANOGLU
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League with a number of teams tracking his progress. Calhanoglu is only 22-years-old but he’s already racked up 26 caps for his homeland and found the net in their 2-1 defeat to England last year. He joined Leverkusen from Hamburg for a fee of around £12.5m in 2014. Since making the move, he’s made 74 appearances for the club and bagged 15 goals.
He will fit in perfectly with Pochettino’s line of thought having being accustomed to similar high-pressing tactics under Roger Schmidt. His dead ball ability will be a welcome addition to an already gifted repertoire.
MARCO REUS
The German has been one of the most sought after players in Europe and has been linked with almost all the big clubs at some point. But injuries have played spoilsport till now and the ideal moment to join one of the European biggies might have gone by.
But Mauricio Pochettino is building something special at Tottenham and it is being acknowledged by the footballing fraternity. They have a batch of exciting youngsters and their playing style does not differ a lot from Dortmund. That along with the chance to play in the Premier League can certainly pave the way for a move.
ISCO
The perennial target for Tottenham Hotspur. Isco has been a name linked with the likes of City and Tottenham ever since he impressed for Malaga. But he opted for the glamour of Real Madrid and his career has stagnated somewhat at the Bernabeu.
He has been linked with a move away and an exchange deal could well be on the cards of things came to head. He has not lost his touch and will add a touch of class to the Spurs’ midfield. His dribbling skills will be an asset and if he can hone his finishing skills, he can well be transformed into a complete midfielder.
