Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken a hand on the critics of Wayne Rooney. Rooney scored his 250th goal for Manchester United to become the top scorer for them breaking Sir Bobby Charlton’s long-standing record.
Wayne Rooney scored a brilliant free kick at the dead end of the stoppage time to earn a crucial point for the Red Devils. United stretched their unbeaten run to 17 games this season with their 1-1 draw against Stoke City.
Rooney had been finding it difficult to find a permanent place in the starting lineup but showed a glimpse of his old form recently. The 31-year-old also broke Bobby Charlton’s record to be the highest scorer for the Three Lions with 53 goals in September 2015.
The big Swede who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain feels that Rooney doesn’t get the appreciation what he should have got, “Everybody knows what Wayne is. But this country has to appreciate him..
“I don’t see any other strikers like him today. Give me some names. Tell me. And still you’re not happy.
“He’s a complete player. It’s a big thing you know. Many great players have been here and his name is right on top.
“I’m very proud to have been on the same field as him when he did it and hopefully he can continue to do what he’s doing. Off the field he’s a real leader and on the field he’s just complete.”
