In a recent interview with MilanNews24, Il Romanista journalist Simone Valdarchi stated that West Ham United are ready to launch a move for Roma forward Tammy Abraham. Valdarchi said,
“During the transfer market, many Premier League teams were linked to Abraham, but without anything so concrete. To date, West Ham seems to be the most interested club and ready to offer just over €20m.
“As for the player’s will, I believe that the possibility of playing for Milan fascinates him, even if the Premier League would be a homecoming for him.”
Abraham’s Injury Frustrations In Italian Football Last Season
The 26-year-old experienced an injury-plagued campaign at Roma but managed to prove his worth at times for them in the final third. Abraham found the back of the net once and earned one assist in 12 matches for the Italian club last season in multiple competitions.
The English talent made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why he only averaged 0.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. However, he needs to be more careful when distributing the ball based on his pass completion rate of 51.4% in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Abraham A Good Choice For West Ham United?
Abraham is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and can create the odd chance for his teammates to score when he is playing regularly on the field. Standing at 1.94m, the English attacker can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels for his team. However, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play up top.
Abraham would no doubt bring more firepower to West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui’s attack. He has what it takes to challenge Michail Antonio and Nicklas Fullkrug for a regular starting spot at the East London club in the coming years.
At 26, Abraham is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent choice for the Hammers to consider in this summer transfer window. He has got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the London Stadium.
