In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Everton have enquired about Barcelona forward Vitor Roque this summer. It is understood that the Toffees have shown interest in the Brazilian striker but are yet to present the Catalan club with a formal offer.
Roque’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football
Roque put in a couple of impressive displays for Barcelona last season but failed to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Nou Camp. The Brazilian youngster participated in 16 matches for the Catalan giants in the previous campaign, scoring two goals across various competitions.
The 19-year-old made most of his appearances off the bench which could be why he only averaged 0.9 shots, 0.1 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 76.6% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Barcelona will run out in the summer of 2031. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Everton to get a deal over the line for him this summer.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Move In For Roque?
Roque excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has also got the vision to create some decent openings for his teammates in the final third and can make a few driving runs with the ball.
The Brazilian youngster is a technically gifted footballer who is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a winger on either flank if asked to do so by his manager. We can expect him to enhance the quality of Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s attack. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if the Merseyside club can find a way to recruit him this month.
At 19, Roque has the potential to be a future star at the highest level. Thus, he would be a great, long-term option for the Toffees to consider this month. However, the gifted starlet is under a long-term contract, so Everton would be wise to try and sign him on loan in this summer transfer window.
