In a recent report, El Debate claimed that Real Madrid are prepared to move in for Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies. It is believed that Los Blancos are ready to make a €35m move to sign the Canada international this summer or else wait to land him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Davies’ Decent Run Of Form In German Football Last Season
Davies had a solid season at the Bavarian club recently after he produced a series of impressive performances for them on the left flank. The Canadian left-back made 42 appearances for Bayern Munich in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net three times and earning six assists on all fronts.
The 23-year-old did well to average 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions,1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga football. He was even excellent when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 88.9% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Davies’ current deal at the German club will run out at the end of next season. Hence, Real Madrid would fancy their chance of signing him on a reduced fee this month or else wait till next summer when he would be a free agent.
Will Davies Be A Good Fit For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies loves a tackle and can make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when needed and can create a few decent chances for his teammates to score.
The Canada international is a good dribbler with the ball as well and has got the pace to cause some problems for his marker on the left flank. He is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if told to do so.
Davies would add more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He has what it takes to help Los Blancos challenge for some major honours over the next few years.
At 23, the future looks quite promising for Davies, so he would be a decent fit for the Madrid club‘s needs in the long run. All in all, Ancelotti should focus on getting him on board soon.
