In a recent tweet, El Chiringuito TV revealed that Barcelona have set their sights on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. It is understood that the Catalan outfit have identified the Colombia international as an alternative option if they fail to land Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer.
Diaz’s Impressive Form In The Premier League Last Season
Diaz had a promising campaign at the Merseyside club recently as he was responsible for putting in a run of eye-catching displays on the left side of their attack. The Colombian talent was involved in 51 matches for Liverpool last season, scoring 13 times and picking up five assists in various competitions.
The 27-year-old was a good performer on the left wing and deserves a lot of credit for averaging 2.5 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He was even tidy with his ball distribution based on his pass completion rate of 85.3% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Diaz’s current deal at Anfield will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Barca to snap him up on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.
Will Diaz Be A Dream Option For Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick?
Diaz is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can cause a lot of headaches for his marker on the left wing. He can engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to score and can strike the ball purely from long range.
The Colombia international can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Hence, it is no surprise that Barcelona are keeping a keen eye on him this summer.
Diaz would no doubt enhance the quality of Barca head coach Hansi Flick’s first XI. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp and could help the Catalan club compete for some major trophies over the next few seasons.
At 27, Diaz is playing some of the best football of his career which makes him a dream option for Barcelona to consider before the end of this summer transfer window.
