Arsenal moved above Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to the second place in the Premier League table with a breath-taking win over Burnley and it was yet again right at the death that Arsenal scored the winner, just like the reverse fixture. And yet again Koscielny was involved in an off-side controversy. They now stay eight points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
The Best And The Worst Arsenal Players Rated From Their Amazing Win Vs Burnley
Cech (7.5/10)- Was solid throughout the match and made little to no mistake. Burnley looked really dangerous from set-pieces and Cech was cool as a cucumber in his ball collection.
Gabriel (8/10)- Hardly had a misstep in the entire game and although he doesn’t have the pace of Hector Bellerin, he is the old-fashioned full-back. Wenger could definitely use him at the position to push Bellerin on the wings if and when needed.
Mustafi (8.5/10)- A brilliant goal to break the deadlock. It needed that exact precision to beat Tom Heaton at the far post, Mustafi met it right on target. Apart from that, although he looked dangerous when he moved on the offensive, he also looked sloppy at times, which could have landed Arsenal in trouble.
Koscielny (8/10)- An ideal captain’s game. Standing rock solid at the back, he led from the front. With Kos at the back, Arsenal are really never in trouble. It his willing to get at the end of the ball in the death minutes that brought Arsenal back into the game. Took one on the face for the team.
Monreal (7.5/10)- Gibbs is back from injury and given the way Monreal is playing, he has to wait longer to make his return to the starting eleven. The Spaniard was consistent right through the game giving ample support to Alexis, however, he chose some wrong options from his crosses.
Ramsey (7.5/10)- He is getting back his pace and touch. A constant threat to Burnley’s attack, Ramsey was time and again beside Ozil to set up Iwobi and Sanchez on the flanks. Needs to be defensively strong, though, which Coquelin brought as soon he came on.
Xhaka (5/10)- Until the red card, there was nothing wrong with his game. The fact that his challenge was absolutely unnecessary and his absence prevented Arsenal from going for a second and a final goal, makes him the villain. The decision to brand the red card was a bit harsh, though.
Iwobi (7.5/10)- When opponents close you down at every opportunity, it is difficult to hold the composure. He is not Ozil after all. However, he made some really great runs that could have been dangerous.
Ozil (8.5/10)- Absolutely brilliant on a day when unlocking the defence took more effort than what is normally needed. His delivery from the corner, which led to the goal, was impeccable and so was his incisive passes.
Sanchez (9/10)- Although he missed some chances that a player of his calibre shouldn’t miss, he was untouchable at times and yet another MOTM display by the Chilean. Extra point for his cheekiness on the penalty, which is actually the icing on the cake.
Giroud (7.5/10)- A bit sketchy in his touches, which we have hardly seen him in the last few weeks. Subbed off without scoring after a long time.
