In a recent report, AS claimed that Real Madrid are keen on recruiting Al-Nassr defender Aymeric Laporte this summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has given the green light to land the Spain international this off-season.
Laporte’s Decent Run Of Form For Both His Club And Country
Laporte had an impressive campaign at the Saudi club as he put in a series of solid performances for them on the defensive end of the field. The Spanish centre-back made 39 appearances for his current employers last season, netting four goals and securing one assist in all competitions.
The 30-year-old helped his nation win the UEFA Euro 2024 earlier this summer and did well to average 0.5 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 4.5 clearances per game during the tournament. He was even accurate when distributing the ball after completing 92.7% of his attempted passes in the Euros (stats via whoscored).
Laporte’s current deal at Al-Nassr will expire in the summer of 2026 which would make it difficult for Real Madrid to get a deal done for him in this summer transfer period.
What Will Laporte Bring To Real Madrid?
Laporte is a tough-tackling defender who can make some timely interceptions for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Spanish talent is even proficient at playing his way out from the back and can use his strong 1.91m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air when he is playing well on the pitch. He is still playing at a high level and would be a welcome addition to Real Madrid‘s squad this summer.
At 30, Laporte has got a few good years left in him to play at his best. He would bring more bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti’s defence and could help the Madrid giants compete across all fronts in the coming seasons.
Laporte would undeniably be a decent option for Los Blancos to consider this off-season. Therefore, Ancelotti would be wise to try everything in his power to lure the Spanish centre-half to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before the end of this summer transfer window.
