In a recent report, Sport claimed that Barcelona have been offered a chance to recruit Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. It has been mentioned that the Catalan outfit would have to rival Manchester United in the race to acquire the services of the Italy international this month.
Chiesa’s Impressive Form In Serie A Last Season
The 26-year-old enjoyed a decent campaign at the Turin club recently as he put in a handful of eye-catching performances for them in the final third. Chiesa found the back of the net ten times and picked up three assists in 37 appearances for Juventus last season across various competitions.
The Italian sensation was a good performer out on the flanks based on his average of 2.3 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.2 crosses and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He was even careful when distributing the ball in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 77.3% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Chiesa is under contract at Juventus until next summer which could open the door for Barca to sign him on a cut-price deal this month.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Bring Chiesa On Board This Summer?
Chiesa is a good dribbler with the ball and can make a few impressive runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third.
The Italian talent can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of crucial goals for his team up top. He mainly plays as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player or as a striker down the middle if needed.
We can expect Chiesa to add more goals to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting place at the Nou Camp next season. At 26, Chiesa is about to enter the peak stage of his career which makes him a worthy target for the Catalan club to pursue this summer.
The Italy international might even help Barca compete for some major honours in the coming years. Thus, Flick would be wise to bring him on board in this transfer window.
