In a recent report, Fotospor mentioned that Aston Villa are in talks to land Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz. It has been stated that the Villans are hoping to get a deal done for the Turkey international in this summer transfer window.
Yilmaz’s Impressive Form In Turkish Football Last Season
The 24-year-old had an excellent campaign at the Turkish club as he was responsible for putting in a lot of influential displays for them in the final third. Yilmaz scored seven goals and secured 12 assists in 55 matches for Galatasaray last season in multiple competitions.
The Turkish winger caught the eye with his performances in Europe based on his average of 0.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the UEFA Europa League. However, he lacked quality when interchanging possession with his teammates after making just 73.9% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Galatasaray will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Aston Villa to snap him up on a cut-price deal this month.
What Will Yilmaz Bring To Aston Villa?
Yilmaz can create some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive third of the field.
The Turkish wing wizard is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but needs to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half. He mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also play on the left wing or function as a striker down the middle if required.
Yilmaz would bring more goals and creativity to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s frontline. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for Moussa Diaby who left the West Midlands club earlier this summer.
At 24, Yilmaz will only get better with each season. Hence, the Villans would be wise to get him on board before the end of this transfer period. However, there are some concerns over whether the Turkey international can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Aston Villa manage to sign him this month.
