According to Ben Jacobs via X, Manchester United have identified Fluminense star Andre Trindade as a viable target. The Premier League club believe he could be a great option if they fail to sign PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer.
The Rise of Andre Trindade
Andre Trindade has been associated with Fulminense since 2013 when he was 12. He worked hard to climb up the ladders and earn opportunities. Following his senior team debut in 2020, he continued to impress with his displays on the field.
Trindade has emerged as a quality footballer with high potential. He featured in 23 games last season and provided one assist. He averaged 2.2 shots, 1.6 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored).
The Brazilian plays as a defensive midfielder and is a technically sound player. He is a good holder of the ball, works on positioning and is an excellent passer. With dribbling being his strong trait, he can also launch long-range shots if needed.
Manchester United not keen to spend high on Manuel Ugarte
Manchester United have been heavily linked to PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte as they look to replace Casemiro, who had a dismal performance last season. The former club even placed verbal a bid worth €35 million. However, the French club rejected the offer as they wanted €60 million for the player.
Fed up by the situation, the Red Devils have decided not to continue the negotiations. Hence, they have shifted their interest to Andre Trindade, who could be a good alternative. The Brazilian player plays a similar role and has high potential. Even Liverpool were interested in him last season but the deal didn’t materialize.
The pursuit of Trindade makes sense as he will come for less price at the Old Trafford. It will allow Manchester United to invest in other areas before the next season kicks in. The 23-year-old can provide depth and solidify in the middle of the park for Erik Ten Hag’s side.
