In a recent report, El Crack Deportivo claimed that Aston Villa are set to rival Nottingham Forest for River Plate defender Sebastian Boselli this summer. It has been stated that the Villans are showing interest in recruiting the Uruguayan youngster this off-season.
Boselli’s Impressive Rise In Argentine Football
Boselli has come through the youth ranks of the Argentine club and did well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. The Uruguayan whizkid has already made 13 senior appearances for River Plate thus far, netting one goal and earning one assist in multiple competitions.
The 20-year-old caught the eye with his performances at the centre of the Argentine club’s defence. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in senior football.
His current contract at River Plate will run out at the end of 2028 which would make it difficult for the Villans to sign him on the cheap this summer.
Aston Villa Are Set To Rival Nottingham Forest For Boselli: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Boselli can get stuck in with a few solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition attackers. He can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. The Uruguayan sensation doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
At 20, there is no denying that Boselli is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, the Villans would do well to get him on board in this summer transfer period. Aston Villa boss Unai Emery could be the ideal man to oversee his development and unlock the best out of the gifted defender at Villa Park in the coming years.
Boselli is already good enough to serve as a sporadic piece in the West Midlands club‘s squad. Plus, he has the ceiling to be a success story at Aston Villa in the long run. However, there are some concerns over whether the Uruguayan defensive ace can handle the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if the Villans manage to get him on board soon.
