In a recent tweet, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on the future of Barcelona winger Raphinha. It has been revealed that the Brazilian wide player wants to stay at the Catalan club beyond this summer.
Raphinha’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football
Raphinha had a terrific campaign at the Spanish club as he was responsible for putting in a lot of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old played in 37 matches for Barca last season, finding the back of the net ten times and picking up 13 assists in the process on all fronts.
The Brazilian wing wizard was a decent performer in the opponent’s half and did well to average 2.1 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in La Liga. He was even tidy when distributing the ball after making 80.9% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Barcelona will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Hansi Flick is under no immediate pressure to cash in on him this off-season.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Retain Raphinha’s Services?
Raphinha has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and can engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates from the wide areas.
The Brazilian talent deserves credit for scoring and creating his fair share of goals for Barca in the previous campaign. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger if asked to do so. The South American talent has proven himself to be a consistent performer at the Nou Camp.
Raphinha remains one of the first names on Barcelona‘s teamsheet. It seems like he has his heart set on staying at the Nou Camp beyond this summer. Thus, it is only fair to the player if Flick retains his services for now as he could help Barca challenge for some major trophies over the next few years. At 27, Raphinha is playing in his prime, so it makes sense for Barcelona to keep hold of him.
