According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are highly interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa in this summer. The Premier League club have even established contact with the player’s agent to discuss a possible move to Anfield.
Federico Chiesa is a quality attacker
Federico Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020 on a loan deal. Later on, impressed with his performances, the Italian club made his move permanent. He emerged as a quality player and a key performer for the side.
However, Chiesa had to miss many games due to injuries over the past couple of seasons. He featured in 37 games last season, netting 10 goals and providing three assists. He averaged 2.2 shots, 1.5 key passes, and 1.2 dribbles per game (stats via Fiorentina).
The Italian attacker is versatile enough to feature in multiple positions up front. He is known for his smooth dribbling, key passes, and the ability to score goals in the final third. He can play short passes to build attackers and also take good shots from long range.
Federico Chiesa is available for just £20 million
Chelsea suffered to score enough goals last season as they were over-dependent upon Cole Palmer. As the wide-area players were ineffectively and inconsistent, the club cannot risk going into another season without proper recruitment.
Hence, the Blues’ new boss Enzo Maresca wants to strengthen the attacking unit with the addition of Federico Chiesa. Given Chiesa’s proven records and versatility up front, he can be a great signing for the club.
The 26-year-old nails the performances whenever he is fit. As he is at the peak of his powers, he can contribute immensely to the club’s success. Interestingly, Juventus have valued the player at just £20 million, which is a bit undervalued for a name of his quality.
However, signing the Chiesa won’t be a piece of cake for Chelsea. They will probably have to beat the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race.
