Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard thinks Liverpool should go all out for Virgil Van Dijk. The Southampton defender has been linked with the Reds recently.
The Dutch footballer reportedly has a £25m release clause in his contract. Southampton recently sold Jose Fonte to West Ham United and will block any move for the defender.
Liverpool have a bit of transfer history with the Saints. A number of players have switched to the Merseyside with the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Dejan Lovren.
Despite signing Joel Matip from Schalke, opponents have often exposed the vulnerability in Liverpool defence this season with bottom placed Swansea pumping in three goals past the Liverpool defence in the last match.
Gerrard who was recently handed the charge of the Reds academy said, “Who I think we need, I would go and try and bid for van Dijk from Southampton.
“But we’ve had enough of their players so that will probably go down like a lead balloon.”
