As reported by Inter Live, Manchester United have identified Inter Milan defensive midfielder Kristjan Asllani as a viable target for the summer window. The Premier League club want to sign the player to bolster their midfield ahead of next season.
Kristjan Asllani has been impressive
A product of Empoli, Kristjan Asllani joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. He has been a solid performer for the Italian club and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Italian league.
Despite Milan’s below-par campaign last season, Asllani did decently well. He featured in 31 games, netting once and providing two assists. He averaged 0.3 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 0.5 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The Albanian plays as a defensive midfielder and is good at initiating attacks. He is excellent with his passes, through balls and set-pieces. He understands the positioning well and can also adapt to other midfielder roles if required.
A fill for Casemiro?
Manchester United need a defensive midfielder as Casemiro was below standards last season. As the Brazilian is expected to leave the club this season, a new name must be signed to fill the space. Hence, the club have turned their eyes to Kristjan Asllani.
Asllani has been impressive for Inter Milan and has huge potential. He can emerge as an elite midfielder should he continue to develop his game. His presence will in the midfield will allow other United players to play with more freedom.
The Red Devils are ready to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in exchange to sign the 22-year-old. The former’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2025. Hence, the English outfit wants to secure money by offloading him in the summer transfer window.
From Asllani’s point of view, joining Manchester United should come as an exciting move. It will allow him to lift his career and also fight for top trophies season after season.
