As reported by GIVEMSPORT, Liverpool are keen on signing Wolves star Pedro Neto in the summer transfer window. The former club even held talks with the player’s agent and his current club to discuss the possible move.
Pedro Neto has decent numbers
Pedro Neto arrived at Wolves in the summer of 2019 from Braga. Since then, he has seen massive improvements in his game. He has emerged as a reliable name and is considered one of the best wingers in the Premier League at present.
Neto enjoyed a decent campaign last season, where he scored three goals in 24 games. He also had 11 assists to his name. He averaged 1.6 shots, 1.7 key passes, and 1.9 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Portuguese forward is extremely versatile as he can play on either of the wings or also in the centre. He can dribble, or use the change of pace to get advanced forward. He likes to put crosses and is also effective at taking set pieces. However, the player still needs to improve his finishing.
A new competitor for Luis Diaz?
Earlier there were speculations that Luis Diaz might leave Liverpool this summer. But it seems like he is going to stay at the club next season. However, that will not stop the club from recruiting a name who can compete with Diaz on the wing.
The Reds are interested in Pedro Neto because of his excellent attacking sense in the final third. The player’s arrival will add depth to the offensive unit for Arne Slot. Moreover, as the player is just 24 years old, he can improve further and emerge as a world-class forward.
Neto still has three years left on his contract with Wolves. It allows his current employers to demand a good fee to sanction the move. Reportedly, the deal will cost Liverpool somewhere around £60m. Interesting, Neto isn’t the only player they are eyeing from Wolves. The Reds also have Rayan Ait-Nouri on their radar, who has a release clause of £38m.
