In a recent report, Sport (via The Mirror) stated that Real Madrid prospect Arda Guler is on the radar of Bayer 04 Leverkusen this summer. It has been claimed that Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is keen on recruiting the talented attacker on loan from Los Blancos this off-season.
Guler’s Impressive Form In Spain Last Season
Guler managed to catch the eye at times with his performances for the Madrid giants on the offensive end of the pitch. The Turkish whizkid played in ten league matches for Los Blancos last season, finding the back of the net six times in the league.
The Ankara-born talent made most of his league appearances as a substitute which explains why he has only averaged 1.5 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 88.2% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2029. Thus, Leverkusen would struggle to sign him permanently on the cheap later this off-season.
Can Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Afford To Lose Guler On Loan This Summer?
Guler can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range and has got the skillet to make some eye-catching runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. The 19-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also serve as a decent, right-sided wide player soon.
The Turkey international managed to impress with his performances for his nation in the UEFA Euro 2024 recently. However, he might struggle to adapt to life in German football if Bayer Leverkusen manage to snap him up soon.
Guler played an important role in Real Madrid’s squad last season. Hence, Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti simply cannot afford to lose him on loan in this summer transfer window. He might even help the Madrid outfit compete across all fronts over the next few years.
However, Guler can also benefit from sealing a loan move to Leverkusen this summer as he looks to mature as a footballer in the future. With all things considered, the Turkey international has the ceiling to be a world-class player in his position someday as long as he continues to develop with each year.
