Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte has been linked to a summer move to Manchester United for some months now. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Premier League club are ready to intensify its efforts to sign the player.
Manuel Ugarte has been amazing
Manuel Ugarte arrived at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Sporting CP last summer. In his very first season, the player has managed to impress everyone with his displays. His solid performances and huge potential have caught the attention of major clubs.
Urgate featured in 37 games for the French outfit this season. Though he couldn’t get a goal to his name, he made three assists. He averaged 3.4 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 1 clearance per game (stats via whoscored).
The Urugyian plays as a defensive midfielder who is comfortable with both feet. He likes to defuse threats by tackling or intercepting the plays. With accurate passes, the ability to dribble multiple players, and long-range shots, he is a quality pick for the middle of the park.
An upgrade of Casemiro?
Manchester United are looking to sign a defensive midfielder as Casemiro has been linked to a Saudi move. If he leaves the club, the team will require someone to fill his shoes. In that regard, Manuel Ugarte would definitely be a great pick.
Ugarte has shown that he has all the qualities needed to succeed at Old Trafford. His ability to win back the possession and build plays will help the Red Devils a lot. As he is 23 years old, he can develop his game further and serve the club for many years to come.
Ugarte still has four years left on his contract with PSG, who value the player at £50 million. However, Manchester United will have to offload some names before they will be able to finance the defensive midfielder’s signing.
