In a recent report, Sabah mentioned that Aston Villa are set to rival Manchester United for Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz. It has been stated that the Villans are showing interest in recruiting the Turkish wide player this summer.
Yilmaz’s Impressive Run Of Form In Turkish Football
Yilmaz had a fine campaign at the Turkish club as he put in a series of impressive performances for them on the right flank. The Turkish talent was involved in 55 matches for Galatasaray last season, finding the back of the net seven times and earning 12 assists in multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good run of form based on his average of 1.6 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 75.8% of his attempted passes in the Turkish top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Turkish club will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Villans to get a deal done for him on the cheap later this year.
Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Snap Yilmaz Up This Summer?
Yilmaz is a great dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with it in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range. The Turkish star can even set up a few promising chances for his teammates up top. He is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or play as a striker down the middle if told to do so.
We can expect him to add more firepower to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s frontline. He has what it takes to serve as a decent player in the West Midlands club‘s squad next season.
At 24, Yilmaz has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Villans to consider this summer. All in all, Emery would be wise to go all out to snap the Turkish sensation up before the start of the new campaign. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
