In a recent report, Foot Mercato mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur tried to land Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz this summer. It has been stated that Spurs and Roma were both showing interest in the talented attacker but Los Blancos were unwilling to let him leave this off-season
Diaz’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football Last Season
Diaz had a terrific campaign at the Madrid club recently as he put in a run of influential displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old played in 44 matches for Los Blancos last season, scoring 12 times and earning nine assists on all fronts
The Moroccan talent was a reliable presence in the opposition half based on his average of 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession after making 87.1% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2027. Thus, it won’t be easy for Spurs to get a deal done for him later this year.
Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Go Back For Diaz?
Diaz is a great dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs out on the flanks. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field.
The Moroccan talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a forward or as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Spurs can somehow find a way to convince Real Madrid to part ways with their prized asset this summer.
Diaz would bring more firepower to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He might even go on to form a productive partnership with Heung-min Son at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 24, the best is yet to come from Diaz. Thus, it makes sense for Spurs to go back in with another offer for the Moroccan wide player before the end of this summer transfer period.
