In a recent report, The Guardian mentioned that Manchester City are locked in a three-way battle for Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze. It is understood that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race to recruit the English attacker this summer.
Eze’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football Last Season
Eze had a fruitful campaign at Selhurst Park as he put in a series of impressive displays for the Eagles in the final third. The English playmaker participated in 31 matches for Crystal Palace last season, netting 11 goals and earning four assists across various competitions.
The 25-year-old has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 3.1 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing possession in the opposition half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.7% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Eze is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for Man City to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Will Eze Be A Good Fit For Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola?
Eze is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in and around the opposition penalty area. He usually generates some power with his shot attempts from long range and has got the eye to set up a promising chance for his teammates up top.
The English sensation mainly operates in the number ten position but can also play as a left-sided wide player if needed. He already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at Man City if Pep Guardiola can devise a way to bring him on board this summer.
Eze would inject more quality and depth into the Mancunian club‘s squad. He has what it takes to help Man City challenge for more major honours over the next few years. At 25, Eze’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a good fit for Guardiola’s needs ahead of the new campaign.
