In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Real Madrid are close to recruiting River Plate youngster Franco Mastantuono this summer. It has been stated that Los Blancos are on the verge of landing the Argentine whizkid in this transfer window.
Mastantuono’s Meteoric Rise In Argentine Football
Mastantuono has come through the youth ranks of River Plate and managed to break into their first team earlier this year. The Argentine prospect has already made 18 senior appearances for his current employers thus far, scoring two goals and earning one assist in all competitions.
The 16-year-old has caught the eye at times with his performances on the offensive end of the field. He is currently amongst the best young players in South American football.
His current contract at the Argentine club will expire at the end of 2026 which could make it difficult for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap later this year.
Real Madrid Are Close To Recruiting Mastantuono: Is He A Prospect For The Future?
Mastantuono is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. He has got the eye to set up a few promising chances for his teammates up top and can strike the ball with venom from long range. Mastantuono is a technically gifted footballer who can be hard to stop when he is running in full swing in the final third.
The Argentine youngster is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a right-winger if asked to do so by his manager. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
Still, there is no denying that Mastantuono is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Hence, it makes sense for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti to try and snap him up before the end of this transfer period.
At 16, Mastantuono has the potential to be a future star at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as long as the Madrid giants are willing to be patient with his development. However, only time will tell whether the talented playmaker can make a smooth transition to life in Spanish football.
