In a recent report, Gianluca Dimarzio stated that Everton are locked in a three-way battle for Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh. It has been claimed that the Toffees would have to rival AS Roma and Olympique Marseille in the race to land the Gambian attacker this summer.
Minteh’s Impressive Loan Spell At Feyenoord Last Season
Minteh had a decent loan spell at Feyenoord recently as he produced a handful of productive displays for them in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 19-year-old scored 11 goals and grabbed six assists in 37 appearances for the Dutch outfit last season across multiple competitions.
The Gambian sensation proved his worth at times in the final third based on his average of 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has been untidy when distributing the ball in the opposition half after completing 69.4% of his attempted passes in the Dtcuh top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Newcastle United will run out in the summer of 2028. Hence, it won’t be easy for Everton to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Go For Minteh?
Minteh is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create some decent openings for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Gambia international is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if told to do so by his manager. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Everton manage to bring him on board this summer.
Minteh would add more firepower to Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park next season.
At 19, Minteh has the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, the Toffees should go for a player of his skillset before the end of this summer transfer window.
