In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester United are showing interest in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer. It is believed that the Red Devils are big admirers of the Brazilian centre-back this summer.
Bremer’s Impressive Form In Serie A
Bremer has experienced a solid campaign at the Turin club as he has put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their backline. The 27-year-old has scored three goals in 40 matches for Juventus this season in various competitions.
The Brazilian talent has been a dominant presence inside his half based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 4.0 clearances per game in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after making 86.3% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Bremer is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Mancunian club to sign him on the cheap in the upcoming transfer period.
Should Manchester United Sign Bremer This Summer?
Bremer is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make some crucial interceptions for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can use his strong 1.88m frame to win a few aerial duels inside his half.
The Brazilian defender is a tidy passer of the ball as well. He has enjoyed his football at Juventus this season and could be a welcome acquisition for the Red Devils if they can manage to get a deal done for him this summer.
Bremer would inject more bite and steel into Man United‘s backline. He might help the Mancunian club compete for a major trophy or two over the next few years. At 27, he is about to enter his prime which makes him a good option for the Premier League side to pursue in this off-season.
However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the high intensity of English football if Man United can lure him to Old Trafford this summer. All in all, the Red Devils should focus on strengthening their defence by signing Bremer this summer.
